What probably happened was we stopped the machine and did our work, and that slowed down the machine enough that the user tried to login before it came back up. it's this desktop machine and another that give all thsi BS.i timed this desktop... i think i'm a bit confused. You can place an initial default profile within Sysvol (I think), but users profiles should be stored within a profiles$ share afterwards. Profiles gets created when user logs off the system. Create a security group for users that have profiles on a particular share, and limit access to only those users.
