Turns out when I added a printer to the servers I forgot to set the names exactly the same. I found a posting in this group dating 2.5 yrs ago from someone who had the same problem and later posted that he solved the problem... Create a new GPO or edit an existing one. If i remote in as network admin, I get a default printer and I can set any printer as default printer. Their local printers are mapped and the shared printers are there. answers on a postcard as they say IF anyone has some bright ideas!!! Not with the logon script, and not in > settings->printers.
