I had the same problem with my 32bit version but I think this link should help. Update the sound card driver to the latest version and see if the sound is working again.¬†To update the driver, you can download the latest audio driver from your PC manufacturer's I'm glad I didn't have to because even though this mb is less than 3 years old, its hard to find another with the same specs. Well I still believe that a clean windows installation will solve the problem, since from what it sounds it is a software issue. Simple as that. But sadly that too blue screens now as well. The error code should be gone.
