My BIOS doesn't have an option to disable xHCI.However I was able to get it to work if I plug the cable in via a powered hub. this contact form But I can't DISABLE it !!! In device manager View> show hidden devices For all the gray USB devices (gray means not currently installed) uninstall them. I'd really rather not need to dual boot win 7 and win 8.1 just to use the cable. I just had to disable the xHCI option in the bios! I have done everything form manually installing the driver to letting windows install as well as going through directX and uninstalling/reinstalling rocksmith. I use a powered hub and after a reboot I just unplug it and plug it back in until it stays on with no Error 10. Yes, it's plugged directly into the PC.
